1.Social contribution activities

Theme

Aim to develop technical skills by making use of overseas technical trainees and, transfer technology by establishing an apprenticeship system

Initiatives

Overseas technical trainees:
Expand the framework for accepting technical trainees from around the world to create a manufacturing process that effectively utilizes the diverse and developed technical skills that they learned in Japan, transferring this knowledge to their local factories once they have returned to their home countries.

Meister system:
In SMC’s manufacturing, we will select transferable technical skills and formulate non-draining apprenticeship certification standards.

Design a global internship and training system to provide global training opportunities for our employees

In times of emergency, provide humanitarian aid through supplying products with priority on industrial manufacturing equipment

Initiatives

When a natural disaster or other emergency occurs that threatens lives and property, conduct activities that support disaster recovery such as supplying products with priority on manufacturing equipment for medical supplies and essentials for daily living.
※Emergencies include natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires, typhoons, and pandemics.

2.Disaster countermeasures and support activities

Theme

Donate solar panel cells to municipalities located around various factories in Japan, and contribute to the securing of power sources at evacuation sites

Initiatives

As the expectations of the region in a disaster are expected to be different from restoration activities, we will try to consult the various municipalities and explore contributions that are suitable for the region before deciding the details.
Verify the wishes of recipients and study/plan for activities that can be established as SDGs activities of SMC.

Each year, we set aside social contribution activity expenditures to support disaster preparedness. Since 2021, we have evaluated this yearly expenditure ratio, using the previous year's value as the future target value.
※Calculation example: 2025 evaluation = 100% of expenditure ratio (2025 expenditure / average expenditure from 2021 to 2024) achieved.
