When affixing the CE mark on product or device, a declaration (issuance of a Declaration of Conformity) is necessary, but there are various ways to do this.

For almost all its products falling under EC directives, in order to make its self-declarations more reliable, SMC clarifies criteria for the applicable standards and reaffirms safety.

When necessary, SMC delivers products to a certification authority for testing under relevant standards to confirm safety and will sometimes make its declaration using a certification of conformity (certificate) issued by the authority.
